Feedback from Academy Joiners
Tomlinscote School
Teaching and learning
Since joining TPT our curriculum focus on retrieval methods and mastery teaching has been transformed. The collaborative work across TPT academies on mastery has been inspirational and Tomlinscote has enjoyed the financial support to establish mastery leaders to pave the way in our mastery journey.
Investment in our school site
We have seen a significant improvement to our site since joining the Trust. TPT has provided the investment to establish a large 3G football pitch, a wellbeing hub for student pastoral support, reconfiguration of our social spaces, removing old prefabricated huts and
redeveloping our reception block. TPT has been successful with several CIF bids which has also helped keep the school estate in excellent condition.
Support from TPT core support team
Taking away the day-to-day concerns of finance, estates and HR has freed up the capacity of my staff to focus upon the students and teaching and learning. We have particularly benefited from regular support from the HR team, this has made a huge difference in a difficult recruitment market.

Frimley C of E Junior School
Teaching and Learning
Through regular CPD (including a Trust-wide INSET day attended by all our teaching and support staff) and meetings of T&L leads across the Trust, we have appointed two ‘Advanced Practitioners in Mastery’, growing our capacity to coach and support staff.
Our staff now have greater opportunity to learn from each other’s practice and expertise, both within Frimley, and across Key Stage 2 with staff from the other Trust Academies.
Transition
We value the possibility to work cross-phase. Our children can visit Tomlinscote School during the year, including visiting its Learning Resource Centre, participating in a STEM workshop and accessing the DT or music facilities.
These planned activities allow our children to be taught by subject-specific expert secondary teachers and access resources not available in a junior school. It also helps them develop their confidence and their own understanding of transitioning into Key Stage 3 and beyond.
We have also been well-supported by staff from the Trust’s Career department and have introduced an effective careers programme into our curriculum at Key Stage 2.
Joint working
My teachers and staff at Frimley have valued joining Trust wide focus groups in key areas such as T&L, SEND, Pupil Premium, Safeguarding and staff wellbeing. These have led to real improvements being made in our practice as well as keeping staff well-informed about current developments and sharing examples of best practice.
